Welcome to Websters, a hidden gem in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.
Formerly the Lansdowne Parish Church, this A-listed Gothic Revival Church was originally built by John Honeyman in 1863 and featured stained glass windows by Alf Webster, for whom the theatre is named.
It now hosts a fully equipped 300 seat theatre, a 55 seat playhouse, a cosy bar and snug and two outside seating areas.
Proposals for an outside events space as we emerge from Covid-19 have been submitted to Glasgow City Council and can be viewed here.

Our Theatre is an intimate 182 seat intimate performance venue with a deep stage, backstage crossover, wings and dressing rooms to the sides.
Websters Theatre is the newest theatre in Glasgow and has rapidly gained popularity since opening in 2014. Situated on busy Great Western Road next to Kelvinbridge Underground Station it is extremely accessible and visible to the passing public making it an attractive venue for hire by theatre companies and other forms of stage performance.
To See or Not to See? Our Playhouse
Websters is fortunate in having not just a 182 seat theatre but a smaller versatile studio space with a capacity of 60 persons called the Playhouse.
The Playhouse is ideal for small plays, cabaret, singer-songwriters as well as being a community space for classes and a room for private hire. ceilidhs and celebrations. It has its own ‘piano bar’ with a range of draught beers and spirits all housed within a small piano. The room also has a small PA and offers lighting options for performance

Websters Bar is the hub of the venue open daily Wednesday to Sunday and when shows are on.
Its main feature is a mirrored gantry created from the historic fittings from an early twentieth century apothecary further along Great Western Road. The decor also reflects other features from the historic church itself - decoration uncovered in the building and stained glass inspired by the designer Alf Webster. The main bar has a small adjoining Snug and there are coal fires burning in the winter months. There is a great selection of beers. Wines and cheeses are a speciality.

Websters is a self-funding venue that survives on the strength of its patronage and you can help support the theatre!
The Theatre and Playhouse are available for hire and the busy calendar demonstrates the demand that exists for a facility of this kind at such a prominent and accessible Glasgow West End location. The winter Pantomime has been a feature for the past five years and customers can enjoy a night out at Websters throughout the most popular periods which tend to be September to December and March to June. The theatre is also popular with theatre and music schools in January, February, July and August.
