Inertia is a newly written two-act production, exploring the complexity of grief through language, poetry, and dance. Set in the early 90s post the fall of the Soviet Union in Eastern Europe, Inertia follows the journey of Frida – a survivor. Rooted in brutalist and naturalistic themes, it explores domestic abuse, the foster care system, motherhood and the feminine condition under the Soviet thumb.
Inertia brings together early-career creatives to explore under-represented cultural stories and is staged with a commitment to environmental sustainability. It is inspired from stories of the playwright’s grandmother of life and fate as a woman in the Soviet Union in Lithuania, and aims to foster cultural understanding and awareness of such issues, especially now during the political unrest in Ukraine.
Inertia features an original score, as well as innovative staging, incorporating choreography and movement with poetry as well as dialogue.
